Buying from the UK allows you to make large savings over New Zealand prices and you have the added convenience of a dedicated team to control the entire buying process.
Do I have to pay VAT?
Value Added Tax (VAT) is the New Zealand equivalent of GST, and is currently 20%. A proportion of new and used cars, but not all, are eligible for a full VAT refund when the car you purchase is confirmed as being exported to a non-European country. This is known as VAT-qualifying.
Therefore when you purchase a car with us and get it shipped back to your non-European country, such as New Zealand, you will be entitled to a full VAT refund.
Whenever possible, Import UK Cars source VAT-qualifying cars!
During this process, it is important to note that UK Customs and Revenue require the VAT to be paid to the dealer, until the car is confirmed as having gone to export.
If the car we are dealing with for you is VAT-qualifying, Import UK Cars will assist with all the documentation necessary and ensure the VAT is reclaimed for the benefit of the customer.
Where possible we will endeavor to defer the vat amount pending shipping / export proof for the customs office.
